EQUIP Sports is a non-profit ministry of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, in Boone, North Carolina. EQUIP was born in the spring of 2005 with a desire to use sports as a way to bring families of all shapes and sizes to knowledge of Jesus through evangelism and discipleship. The program started small with just baseball but the Lord continues to bless us and we have added football, soccer, basketball, track and wrestling. Recently, we added a girls only program called Crosstrain under the leadership of Beth Satterfield.
Everything we do is Christ-focused and functions on the teaching that everyone has a purpose in life. We teach each child that God loves them in conjunction with the proper skills for each sport, beginning at the early age of 4 years old.
All programs are clinic based. We teach character and the fundamental skills needed to perform in athletics and life. This verse has become our motto, in fact you will see our players with it on their jerseys because it is our greatest desire to do everything for the glory of God. "Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ." Colossians 3:23-24
